Google Says, Don't Rewrite Dynamic URLs To Static URLs
Google say, in bold, "avoid reformatting a dynamic URL to make it look static." But Google also admitted that "static URLs might have a slight advantage in terms of clickthrough rates." However, Google said "dynamic URLs should be favored over hiding parameters to make them look static."
Does that mean SEOs and webmasters should stop rewriting their dynamic URLs? Would I personally recommend that? I think so, based on what I have been seeing recently from Google. As long as your dynamic URLs do not contain an unusual amount of parameters, like over five, I would think it would serve you better, in terms of ranking well in Google, to use dynamic URLs.
Again, this is a huge change in SEO philosophy and practice.
If the Google blog post is not evidence enough for you, to stop using rewrites, then maybe this additional information will help. I have seen, personally, on some of my large database driven sites, that Google has suggested that they have extremely high number of URLs. Those URLs are rewritten to be search engine friendly, at least they were back several years ago. If they were dynamic URLs, then Google would maybe not show that message. Maybe they would just handle them as they should be handled.
Of course, Google said there is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty, but there is such a thing as duplicate content. I suspect, having dynamic URLs as dynamic URLs would help Google figure out if a page is duplicate or not. Serving up static URLs in some of those cases, may confuse Google. And then you have the too many redirects warning in Google Webmaster Tools. I think related as well.
So what should a webmaster do with old sites that have old rewrites in place? I would be extremely wary about moving hundreds of URLs from their static rewrite version, back to their dynamic version. A Google Groups thread discussing this specific blog post does recommend that if you do move those URLs, you use a 301 redirect.
But should you? Google really does not comment about if you should make the big move or not, for a high number of old URLs already in the Google index. On one hand, Google now prefers dynamic URLs in these cases. On the other hand, you already have those pages indexed in Google and the link popularity for those pages have been long established. Using a 301 redirect will eventually transfer most, if not all, the old URLs to the new URLs - but how quickly and how much will you lose?

Search engine marketers look to double business by 2010
An IAMAI (Internet and Mobile Association of India) and IMRB (Indian Market Research Bureau) report pegs the total market revenue of the SEM industry in India at around Rs 500 crore in 2007-08. This is expected to increase to around Rs 1,000 crore by 2009-2010.
Viral Thakkar, director-sourcing advisory services, KPMG, says: “ Google’s move will push outsourcing and India will gain, as it has the cost advantage and availability of required skills.”
SEM spends exceed that of the TV in the UK, and a similar pattern is expected to emerge in other parts of the world. One third of the SEM revenue in India is contributed by domestic clients, while the rest by international ones.
There has been a decrease in the management of in-house organic SEO (search engine optimisation). In 2006, 84 per cent of SEO was managed in-house, while in 2007 it dropped to 79 per cent. Advertisers are now hiring SEM agencies to optimise their website so that it comes up in the first few searches.
Rising cost per click is also leading to increased outsourcing. In the increasing cost environment, advertising agencies are supposed to move more work to India. Typically, 30-100 projects per year are undertaken by SEM outsourcing organisations.
According to a 2007 I-Cube report, of the 250 million urban populace, 77 million speak English. Around 20 per cent of the business of Communicate 2 comes from offshore activities.
Compared to the Philippines, South Africa and China major competitors to India in outsourcing, SEM business is higher for India. The Indian workforce’s endorsements from Google helps.
Indian SEM companies earn bigger revenues from outsourcing. Thakkar of KPMG says: “Profit earned on domestic billing is just one-fourth of global client billing.”
Attracting talent is a big challenge. Lack of awareness of the opportunities in the field is the biggest challenge facing the industry. Professionals could make great careers in SEM, but many are not aware of SEM as a career option. Vivek Bhargava, MD, Communicate 2, says: “I think the SEM salary would be 2-3 times higher.”

Google Chrome "browser"
The first day tell to us that GChrome already has a market share bigger than Opera.
Internet search giant Google has finally made its much-rumoured entry in the browser space. After the latest releases by Mozilla (Firefox 3) and Microsoft (IE 8 beta 2), here comes Google browser Chrome.
Designed to better handle video-rich or other complex Web programmes, Chrome poses a tough challenge to browsers designed originally to handle text and graphics. Google calls the move "a fresh take on the browser" and said that it will be introducing a public trial for Microsoft Corp Windows users starting September 2. The Internet search leader is also working on versions for Apple Macintosh and Linux users.
Here's looking into what all the Google’s new browser packs.
Instead of traditional tabs like those seen in Firefox or Internet Explorer, Chrome puts the tab buttons on the upper side of the window, not below the address bar.
Web programmes can be launched in their own dedicated windows.
As a default homepage, the browser offers a “speed dial” feature, similar to the one in Opera browser. This gives users a view of their most visited Web pages in 9 screenshot thumbnails.
Similarly, users can also view some of their recent searches, recently bookmarked pages and recently closed tabs.
Like IE8 Beta 2, Chrome also comes with privacy mode or porn mode feature. This mode lets users create an "incognito" window where "nothing that occurs in that window is ever logged onto your computer."
This is a read-only feature with access to one's bookmarks or favorite sites.
The browser has an address bar ‘omnibox’ with auto-completion features. It offers search suggestions, top pages that a user visited and pages he didn’t visit but are popular.
The omnibox (“omni” is a prefix meaning “all”, as in “omniscient” - “all-knowing”) also gives suggests searches, say a user entered the word “cellphone”, it will show the cellphone manufacturer page he visited, like Motorola or Nokia.
For safe browsing experience, Chrome will regularly keep on downloading a list of harmful sites. This is the Internet search giant's attempt to fight malware and phishing attacks.
Google also promises that whatever will run in a tab will be filtered so that it doesn't affect user’s machine.
However, users who install plugins may loose this security feature.
The browser supports multi-tasking. Just like in a typical operating system each application is given its own memory and its own copy of global data structures. Applications will launch in their own windows so that if one should hang or crash it won’t affect the others.
This will also prevent the whole browser from crashing because it’s essentially been partitioned off.
Google Chrome has a new engine for loading interactive JavaScript code, dubbed V8, which is designed to run the next generation of future Web applications. V8 will speed up JavaScript performance in the browser.
I would love to know your views on the following points/
Google seeing everything that everyone is doing." The info Google is taking from the users of the browser.
Omnibox thing.
launching a web browser means that Google is losing its focus on core search quality, right?
